Hey there - Lucas here, co-owner of Buffalo Window Washing. I wanted to take a minute to share the story behind how this company started, what drives us, and how a spontaneous idea in Boston turned into one of the most rewarding decisions of my life.
This is not just a business to me. It is something I truly care about. It is about family, about Buffalo, and about building something that actually helps our community.
Our mission is simple: to beautify Buffalo one home and business at a time.
Here is the story of how it all began.
I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, and went to Iroquois High School. After that, I studied application software development at Alfred State. My first few years out of school were all about tech - I interned with Moog (the aircraft division) and then took on another software internship with a company out of Boston, where I worked remotely before moving there full-time.
It was a great job. The team was incredible. The opportunities were solid. But deep down, I knew I was not where I was supposed to be.
I have always had that entrepreneurial itch, and while sitting behind a desk, I could not shake the feeling that I was meant to build something of my own. Something more hands-on. More personal. Something that would bring me back home.
That is when I started looking at Buffalo again.
As I was thinking about business ideas, I stumbled onto something most people do not really notice - just how wide open the home services space was here in Western New York. Especially when it came to window cleaning and pressure washing.
I started paying attention. And I realized there was a serious gap.
A lot of companies were not showing up on time. Many did not answer their phones. Few had clear communication or professional crews. And most of them? No online presence at all. No social media, no photos, no reviews - just a phone number on Google and maybe a logo.
That is when it clicked.
I thought: What if I could take this outdated, under-served industry and level it up? What if we could do it better?
So I quit my job in Boston, came back to Buffalo, took my savings, and invested everything into starting Buffalo Window Washing from scratch.

One of the best decisions I made early on was calling my brother, Logan.
If you have ever met Logan, you know the guy is basically MacGyver. You could ask him to build a house from the ground up and he would figure out every single step on his own. He is one of the most capable, hands-on people I know. So I pitched him the idea: Let’s start this company together.
We had no customers. No real plan beyond working hard and doing good work. But Logan said yes - and off we went.
For the first few years, it was just the two of us. We were out there every day, side by side, climbing ladders, pressure washing homes, cleaning windows in the rain, the heat, and even some light snow (Buffalo does not wait). Every job was a chance to prove ourselves, and we took it seriously.
As time went on, word started to spread.
We picked up our first customers. Then our first big commercial client. Then another. We invested in better equipment. We refined our systems. We kept improving.
Eventually, we started hiring. First just a couple people during our busy season, then more consistently as the business grew. These days, we have served well over 1,000 customers - everything from small homes to commercial properties like Douglas Development and Young Development. Each project helps us continue our goal to beautify Buffalo, making neighborhoods shine and homes stand out.
It has been wild to look back and realize how far we have come since those first few weeks with nothing but a dream and a couple ladders in the back of a pickup.
People often ask what makes us different from the other guys. And honestly, it is everything.
We show up. We answer the phone. We make things clear.
We have all dealt with contractors who do not respond, do not follow up, or leave you guessing. I have been on the other side of that as a homeowner, and it is frustrating. So we made it our mission to be the opposite of that.
From 8:00am to 5:00pm, we have got someone answering the phones (shoutout to our younger sister Ella - she is the best at it and we trust her more than anyone). We also invested in software that sends you updates via text - so you know when we are on the way, when we are finished, and gives our customers a direct line of contact with us at all times.
We show up in uniform. Our techs are background checked and trained. We protect your property. We do not blast your siding with pressure washers. We take care of things the right way.
We treat every customer like they are a neighbor - because around here, they probably are.
One of the biggest gaps we saw when starting out was the lack of online presence from local service companies.
Let’s be honest: most window cleaning companies around here do not even post on social media. Some do not even have websites. We decided early on that we were not going to be invisible. We wanted people to know who we are, what we do, and what it is like to work with us.
So we leaned into social media - Instagram, Facebook, TikTok. We started sharing day-in-the-life videos, job highlights, cleaning transformations, funny videos, and behind-the-scenes footage of our crews in action.
Now, people actually recognize our team before we even show up.
We have had customers say, “Hey, that is Sean and Matt from your Instagram!” And that is the point - we want to build trust before we even knock on your door.

This city means everything to us.
We are not some out-of-town franchise trying to cash in - we are two brothers who grew up here, live here, and are raising our families here. Every window we clean, every driveway we wash - it is part of a bigger goal to beautify Buffalo.
There is a ton of potential in this city. There are plenty of homes that need some love, businesses that could shine a little brighter, and neighborhoods that just feel better when they are clean and cared for. We take pride in helping our neighbors beautify Buffalo with every service we provide.
We love being a part of that.
We want to be the #1 window cleaning and pressure washing company in Buffalo - not just by size, but by reputation, professionalism, and quality.
That said, we are not rushing. We are focused on doing things right, hiring the right people, and keeping the same level of care and attention that got us this far.
The sky is the limit, but our feet are firmly planted in Buffalo.
I know I speak for Logan, Ella, and the whole team when I say this: we are so grateful for everyone who has supported us along the way.
To the 1,000+ customers who trusted us, to those who referred us to friends, to the 250+ people who left 5-star reviews on Google and Facebook… thank you. It means the world.
To the people who follow us on social media, cheer us on, and send us DMs about how great our videos are - we see you, and we appreciate you more than you know.
And to anyone thinking about hiring us - we would love the chance to earn your trust too.
Thanks for reading my story.
